BELIZE TRIP

ON COURSE FOR THE FUTURE...
Horizon Community Church has purchased 154 acres along the Little Miami River for its future church location. The land is approximately four miles from Cincinnati Country Day School and is the former site of Indian Valley Golf Course. The church is currently in the design phase, working with architect CDH Partners to create the facility. Read details here.

...the momentum is building...

BUILDING

We have a mountain! Horizon has taken a giant step forward this summer by acquiring, importing and compacting the fill dirt need to bring the area under our future building above the floodplain. The footprint of our future building plot has been raised 10-15 feet, with an additional six-foot surcharge on the top. This surcharge will help the mound settle more quickly and more thoroughly. When the time comes to build, it will be scraped off and placed on areas designated for future parking, roadways, etc.

We have made progress on another front as well. We have completed the Construction Manager selection process. We are pleased to announce that Turner Construction Company has been chosen to help us take the next step. Our selection process started several months ago when Horizon issued a Request for Qualification to over 15 different construction companies. After receiving the RFQ responses, we invited a smaller group to submit detailed proposals based on 80% design development drawings. Two companies submitted excellent detailed proposals. After interviewing the construction teams from both companies and checking references, we made the decision to move forward with Turner. Thank you to everyone that helped in the selection process.

The next phase is the pre-construction design phase where Turner will team with our architect to value engineer the design from the builder's perspective, and finalized the last 20% of the design. This process allows us to identify areas where significant cost savings are available by changing specifications, deferring certain investments, adjusting finishes and so on. At the end of the pre-construction phase, sometime in October, we will have more accurate budgeting information and a more complete picture of our next steps towards construction.

These words were written by King David long ago but how true they are at Horizon today. Everyday we see something that causes us to shake our head in wonderment and this building project is no exception. Horizon continues to celebrate the fact that God has provided 154 beautiful acres and we have made amazing progress towards our capital campaign goal.
