GOSPEL PRAISE CONCERT
Join in on Sunday night, Feb. 26th at 6:30 as Albert Wilkerson and friends bring an hour of upbeat gospel music. Albert has toured and recorded with a "who's who" of music, including Stephanie Mills, Ashford & Simpson, The Gap Band, Yolanda Adams, the Whispers and others. Childcare for 4 and under.
ONLINE GIVING
By popular demand, we've made it easier for you to support the church financially by enabling an online giving option through the web. To make one-time or recurring donations to Horizon, go to giving.horizoncc.com and use our secure and confidential system. We accept electronic checks and major credit cards.
CITY GOSPEL MISSION TWICE A MONTH
In addition to our usual second Sunday serving opportunity, you can now serve on the third Monday of each month to help serve dinner for the needy individuals at City Gospel Mission. Horizon's Action Team meets at 5:30 p.m. at the church parking lot to carpool. Children 6 and up can join in with parents.
FILL A BAG, FEED A FAMILY
Horizon's blue bag ministry offers an easy way to help others in need. Grab a blue bag and a grocery list at the information desk on Sunday and take it on your next shopping trip. Bring the filled bag back on Sunday, and Horizon's Action Team will make sure it's delivered to a needy family or local food pantry.

Exploration Station for Children
Infants through 4th Grade
| Exploration Station (a.k.a. "E-Station") offers a creative, fun program, emphasizing Christian learning in an exciting and child-friendly atmosphere. E-station uses drama, music, Bible stories, games and crafts to stimulate a child's growth. Kids are excited by their experience here and look forward to spending time at E-station. Parents can relax and know their children are loved and nurtured while they learn and grow. To view a list of E-station events, click here. | |
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT?
E-station is geared toward the individual needs of each child and all classrooms are appropriately equipped for the children using them. The children are grouped by age, and later, gender (third and fourth grade boys separate from the girls.) The teachers are chosen because of their ability to generate a relaxed and non-threatening environment, while communicating God's word in a stimulating way.
Our adult services begin at 8:50, 10:00 and 11:10, and many teachers attend one service and volunteer during another. Because of this, E-station offers two totally different programs during the morning.
The 8:50 and 11:10 programs begin with introducing the Bible story for the day in small groups. The groups then come together to take part in a larger presentation involving worship music, storytelling, and acting. The children then return to their small groups to continue discussion about the story using crafts and games to bring God's word to life.
The 10:00 program begins with the theme for the week introduced in small groups. The groups then come together to take part in a larger presentation involving worship music, storytelling, acting and games. The children then return to their small groups to discuss what they have learned, and how they might apply it to their own lives.
SAFETY
Here are some of the steps taken to ensure the safety of each child:
- classrooms free of clutter with clean and age-appropriate toys
- a minimum of two teachers in each classroom
- two circulating staff available to provide extra help if needed
- background checks completed on all staff working at E-station
- registration and pick up with parent sign-in and child nametags
- a paging system in the auditorium to alert parents when needed
- a health policy to protect your child's health
HEALTH POLICY
Parents are asked for their cooperation in helping to provide a healthy environment. For the consideration of all, sick children are requested to be cared for at home. These are the rules of thumb we publish for the sake of all the children. Children are not ready to come to E-station if they:
- had a fever of 100 or more within the last 24 hours
- vomited within the last 24 hours
- had diarrhea within the last 24 hours
- have a runny nose with other than clear drainage accompanied by other symptoms
- have a bad cough
This policy not only protects other children, but also ensures that your child gets the most enjoyment from our programs by coming at their best.
HOW DO I SIGN IN?
Visit the E-station check-in table to begin. Greeters and hallway staff are ready to help you get your child to their room and comfortably situated.
Our staff is happy to answer any question you have. Call the church office during the week or contact us through the e-mail addresses listed below.
